The project for this apartment of about 60 square meters, located in the Millefonti district of Turin, sought to update the space in terms of internal organization and finishes, while recognizing the qualities of the orientation of the original plan of this interesting Art Nouveau building from the 1930s.
The color scheme of the new rooms is neutral to give full prominence to the furniture, the lamps used and above all to the texture of the floor. In this new project, the finishing materials have been completely replaced, giving the spaces a minimal and contemporary character. At the same time, the relationship with the industrial context of the area has been enhanced, which boasts the Lingotto building complex as a landmark, a crucial place in the history of Turin's production, being among the first Italian factories founded on the scientific organization of work, and an icon of modern architecture. A relationship that is sought both in the use of existing metal fixtures and in the use of metal elements in the furniture and lighting fixtures.
Lamps that express in every detail the simplicity of the lines with chromatic choices that favor the use of black and terracotta.
The main theme underlying the choice of materials is the search for a dialogue between textures and warm tones in a modern, ethereal, but warm, unique space, which seems focused on design, but also intimate and inviting. In general, in order not to lose the dominance of oak wood interpreted in the most authentic way by the floor, the choice of materials completes the palette with oak wood with lighter grains in the furniture, with colored details in the textiles and lighting fixtures. The primary objective was to create a home that immediately conveys the feeling of home, a space in which time stops and you can enjoy the moment, for hours and hours, in a sober, relaxed and welcoming environment.
